STAY: The Mirabelle Suites (this was a last minute trip, so unfortunately they didn’t have availability. However, this is where we will stay on our next trip), The Brice
EAT & DRINK:
–The Collins Quarter: Beautifully designed interior, great service, and the most delicious, fresh food. Brunch was SO good that we almost went again for dinner. I loved the avocado toast + Alan loved the hash. It was hands down our favorite Savannah restaurant!
– Vinnie Van Go Go’s: We grabbed a fresh-made pizza slice in city market one evening to enjoy with beer on-the-go (legal in Savannah!). Vinnie’s is cash only.
– The Coffee Fox: Perfect spot to warm up with a cup of coffee in city market
– Mirabelle Cafe: Coffee + waffles in the cutest cafe
– The Florence: We went for drinks + dessert and absolutely loved it (the bread platter was drool-worthy). It’s a bit south of the historic district, so we drove from our hotel.
– Chocolat by Adam Turoni: A chocolate shop in the style of a library. I can’t stop thinking about the dark chocolate peanut butter cup with sea salt. It was worth every penny! It’s right by Chippewah Square so you can have a Forrest Gump reenactment on his bench if you want – or at least go listen to the Forrest Gump impersonator.
SHOP: Most of the shops are in City Market (which is on the north end of downtown, near the river walk). During the day it can fill up with tourists, so we enjoyed that area in the early morning + late evening while we had the streets to ourselves.
– The Paris Market: I could have spent every last penny in here. The Paris Market also has a cafe and you can enjoy your coffee + macaroons at the sweet little bistro tables outside.
– Alex Raskins Antiques: If you enjoy antiquing, this is a famous four-story antique shop in the historic district.
EXPLORE:
City Squares: There are 22 of them! Some favorites were: Reynolds Square, Chippewa Square, Whitefield Square, Orleans Square
Forsyth Park: Being the largest park in downtown Savannah, it certainly attracts the tourists. During the winter, it was nearly empty in the early morning and just before dusk. There is a farmer’s market in the park on Saturday morning.
Jones Street: Lined with historic southern homes and gorgeous oaks, it was my favorite street in all of Savannah.
Anna,
I so enjoy your posts. The descriptions always create pictures in my head. We have been to Savannah a number of times, but you gave me some ideas for our next trip.
