We snuggled around our campfire listening to the melody of chirping crickets and wind-blown leaves beneath a cotton candy sunset .. while the campfire smoke and sparks danced above our heads .. and our happy pup frolicked in the tall grass. A glamping weekend at Paint Rock Farm was exactly what our little family needed after a busy season of life. Ever since our first glamping experience in Big Sur several years ago, Alan and I have jumped at every opportunity to “luxury camp”. There’s nothing quite like enjoying the great outdoors from the comfort of a soft mattress.
If you’ve been following along on Instagram, then you know that Alan and I got a Bernedoodle puppy earlier this year. We’ve been looking forward to taking Crosby on hikes and camping weekends ever since. When I found Paint Rock Farm, I knew it would be the perfect getaway! Paint Rock is a new remote glamp site in western North Carolina (about an hour past Asheville) on the French Broad River. Several bell tents are tucked in a quiet field adorned with wildflowers across from a gorgeous old barn overlooking the river. The tents were built on platforms which keeps them cool in the summer heat and also deters the bugs and critters. When we arrived, I was shocked by how spacious the tents were. Even with our bags, cooler and Crosby, there was plenty of room remaining. But undoubtedly my favorite amenity was the new bathhouse (because no matter how much I love camping, I will never vote to give up hot showers).
On Saturday afternoon, we drove out to Max Patch for a short hike. Crosby has never been happier and we had to drag him back into the car – the Bernese Mountain Dog in him was in pup heaven.
When: May 2018
